Stat Medical Devices

The first step in getting an accurate glucose test is getting a good sample to test
(“finger sticks,” as they are called).

It all starts with proper lancing, or puncturing, of the test site to draw out a small sample of blood.

Stat Medical Devices, Inc. is a leader in lancets and lancing devices, including such well known brand names such as Qwik-Let®, Stat-Let®, Pedi-LetTM and Super-FineTM.

Get it Right the First Time

Using Stat lancing devices and Stat lancets, you can ensure that you get enough blood the first time — eliminating painful “re-sticks” — while maximizing comfort. Just follow these tips to get a proper blood sample each and every time:

  1. Thoroughly wash and dry your hands (besides cleaning the area, the warm water can help get blood flowing to your fingers).
  2. Dangle and shake your hand a few times, then massage your hand and finger by stroking down toward the puncture site (avoid touching the cleaned area on the finger that you wish to puncture).
  3. Place the Stat lancing device firmly against the puncture site and push the release button.
  4. Wait a few seconds and then stroke down the finger towards the puncture site to form a drop of blood. Do not squeeze around the puncture site.
  5. Apply the drop of blood to a glucose test strip or test sensor.
  6. Wipe the puncture site with a dry, clean facial tissue.
  7. Put pressure on the puncture site until the bleeding stops.

Choose the Right Diabetic Testing  Equipment

With a finger stick, the goal is to get enough blood for a sample without too much discomfort. That’s why Stat Medical Devices provides lancets in a variety of sizes (gauges), and all Stat lancing devices feature adjustable penetration depths.
